September 2013

A relatively quiet month!

Well it wasn't really. On top of now finishing off the Rollacoaster promotional stuff which hopefully I will be sharing with you over the next couple of months it was a good month for gigs, attending gigs and 'stuff' generally. No writing though so will have to make sure I rectify that over the next month or so. That said Gayle has been regularly filling my inbox with some ideas some of which are great so I am going to share the whole process of putting a song together on here right from the birth of the idea via an iPhone "rambling" to hopefully a finished track so here goes

Birth of "Untouchable"

This is where it starts sometimes, sometimes it may be a lyric in this case it was a couple of 'sketches' from Gayle from her phone. Two ideas for the chorus and the middle 8 here. Very raw at this stage and we have just captured the moment Gayle had the idea pop into her head so this is really the "chicken and egg" moment. Look forward to developing this over coming posts to see where this journey goes and the song is affectionately now "The blog song" which is dangerously close to a novelty act some time ago in a large pink latex suit!

Visage at Epic Noriwch

Now this is a band I thought I would never see live. Was like stepping back to my schooldays when Steve Strange brought the band to Epic. Was a bit surreal but entertaining none the less

Back to the 80s Live

The band were very busy over September, always check our Facebook page for the latest gigs and a couple of new additions to the set in the form of "A Little Respect" and "I Think We're Alone Now" yep we've made it our own version so come along a have a look at the band. Mainly around the Cambridge area but van ready we will travel anywhere to bring a bit of retro 80s into your lives.

Thomas Dolby "The Invisble Lighthouse Tour"

What an incredible gig and there are a few dates left so get along to see it. Iv'e been a fan of Thomas Dolby from well far too long. This unique tour is a solo performance with a difference. Thomas has made a film which he performs live to which was as with all of his productions and writing ground breaking and frankly genius.

Was a real pleasure to meet one of my own inspirations. His current album is incredible some brilliant songs on there and strongly recommended Thomas Dolby Website

Midge Ure @ The Brook, Southampton

Got to see Midge performing with keyboardist Charlie Round - Turner for a performance at The Brook. Sounds as good as ever and in even better voice. Follow Midge on twitter, he varies the programme and never sits still @midgeure1

Sober Month!

I decided in the interests of health and a true test of self discipline to stop all alcohol for the month! It was surprisingly hard especially when attending all these events and even a dinner at The Savoy which had a free bar and copious amounts of Champagne. But completed task and hey might even do it again. Certainly with the boot camp and cycling feeling much better these days. Onwards and upwards.
